The Eurasian Patent Office (EAPO) published the annual report for the work done in 2021. The report shows the main achievements, statistics and the results of EAPO\u2019s activities.<\/p>\n
The highlight events of 2021 can be summarized as follows:<\/p>\n
– Appointment of the Eurasian Patent Office as an International Searching Authority and International Preliminary Examining Authority under the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT).<\/p>\n
– The receipt of Eurasian industrial design applications is opened.<\/p>\n
Today Eurasian industrial design patents are valid on the territory of the following states: the Kyrgyz Republic, the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Republic of Armenia, the Russian Federation, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Republic of Tajikistan.<\/p>\n
In 2021, the Eurasian Patent Office received 92 Eurasian industrial design applications, and 7 Eurasian industrial design patents were granted.<\/p>\n
– The Patent Prosecution Highway Programme (the PPH Programme) between the Eurasian Patent Office and the Korean Intellectual\u00a0Property Office (KIPO) became permanent.<\/p>\n
– The Eurasian Patent Office received 3,643 Eurasian applications for inventions (8 per cent more than in 2020); 2,416 Eurasian patents for inventions were granted.<\/p>\n
– A new information and search resource, the EAPO Pharmaceutical Register, containing information on Eurasian patents for inventions related to active pharmaceutical ingredients (API) with assigned international nonproprietary names (INN) is available on the EAPO web portal with open access.<\/p>\n
As of the end of 2021, the EAPO Pharmaceutical Register includes 196 INNs and information on 290 Eurasian patents protecting these APIs.<\/p>\n
