Representatives of ARS-Patent took part in the webinar, organized by CIPA

Four representatives of ARS-Patent, Anna Bogdanova, Mikhail Khmara, Evgeny G. Ilmer, Ilyana Lipatova, took part in the webinar with CIPA (The Chartered Institute of Patent Attorneys), which was held on 22 June, 2017.  The subject matter was “Landmarks in last practice of the Russian Patent Office”.

The speakers presented the reports to the following fields:

• “Trademarks in Russia – special aspects”: Examination – lists of goods, abbreviations of consonants, 3D marks; Amendments into registrations – one request for several registrations – theory vs. practice; Assignment, licenses – facilitating filing system; Non-use cancellation actions – evidencing plaintiff’s interest. • “Landmarks in last practice of the Russian Patent Office after adoption of the new Russian Patent Law”: Utility models – conceptual changes, Doctrine of equivalents changed, Dependent inventions, New patentability criteria, Amendments – severe restrictions, Patent invalidation – new possibilities, Industrial designs – list of essential features abolished. The Chartered Institute of Patent Attorneys (CIPA) is the professional and examining body for patent attorneys in the United Kingdom. The Institute was founded in 1882 and was incorporated by Royal Charter in 1891. It represents over 2000 chartered patent attorneys, whether they practise in industry or in private practice. Total membership is over 3500 and includes trainee patent attorneys and other professionals with an interest in intellectual property matters.
