Oxana Natarova earned M.A. in linguistics, with distinction, from the St.Petersburg State University in 1985 and pursued work towards a Master of Laws at St.Petersburg School of Law with an emphasis given on urban planning and land use matters.

Following her studies, Ms. Natarova had a substantial practice in representation of numerous private sector clients in their dealings with St. Petersburg district governmental bodies, administrative boards and commissions in the area of zoning and environmental matters. A degree of patent agent obtained from the Russian Institute of Intellectual Property in 1989 perfectly complemented her legal background, and Ms. Natarova, while serving as a lead counsel to the State Machinery Research Institute, extended her interest to handling of patent applications directed to a variety of mechanical innovations.

She has also performed prior art searches that have resulted in successful challenges to patent infringement allegations in various technologies. At ARS-Patent her patent practice focuses on electrical, electronic, machinery technologies including preparation and prosecution of invention and utility patent applications (both domestic and foreign), prior art searches, patentability, infringement and validity opinions, and preparatory defensive work (interference proceedings and oppositions in the Russian Patent and Trademark Office).
